Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how DConvert («we», «us», or «our») handles information when you visit our site and use our file tools. We wrote it to be readable while covering the topics users and regulators typically expect.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the DConvert website and the conversion tools offered through it. It does not apply to third-party websites you may reach through external links, or to software installed outside your browser.
By accessing or using DConvert, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please discontinue use of the service.
2. Summary of our approach
DConvert is built so the files you select for conversion are handled on your device. We do not receive those file contents for the purpose of performing conversions on our servers.
We do not require you to create an account to use standard features. We do not sell personal information. We limit collection to what is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve the public website.
3. Information we do not collect from your files
We do not ask you to send documents, images, or other media to our servers as part of normal conversion workflows. We do not store your source files or converted outputs on our systems.
We do not build profiles based on the contents of your PDFs, photos, or other files. We do not use your files to train models, and we do not share file contents with advertisers.
When you leave the site, any temporary data held for processing is discarded. Saved downloads remain only on your device.
4. How file processing works (in plain terms)
When you open a DConvert tool, the site loads what you need to complete the task. After you choose files, operations such as merging pages, adjusting compression, or changing image format are carried out on your device.
Network activity related to conversion is generally limited to loading the site itself — not to transmitting your selected files to us for processing. You remain responsible for securing your device and downloaded files after conversion.
Performance may vary depending on your hardware and the size of your files. Extremely large files may fail or take longer on older devices.
5. Information we may collect automatically
When you visit our site, standard web server and analytics mechanisms may record limited technical information. This can include your IP address (often truncated or anonymised by analytics providers), browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, approximate geographic region, and timestamps.
This information helps us understand aggregate usage, diagnose errors, defend against abuse, and plan capacity. It is not used to reconstruct the content of files you process.
Log data is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security and operational purposes, then deleted or aggregated.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, or comparable browser technologies for essential site functions, preference memory, and analytics. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.
Essential cookies support basic operation of the site. Analytics cookies, if enabled, help us measure traffic patterns in aggregate form. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality.
DConvert does not use cookies to extract or track the contents of files you select for conversion.
7. Third-party services
We may rely on third-party providers for hosting, content delivery, analytics, or security. Those providers process limited technical data on our behalf under contractual safeguards appropriate to their role.
Third-party services integrated into the site do not receive your conversion file contents through DConvert's normal local processing design. If you follow a link to an external site, that site's privacy practices apply instead of this policy.
8. Legal bases and purposes (where applicable)
Where privacy regulations require a stated legal basis, we process minimal website data based on legitimate interests in operating a secure public service, and — where applicable — your consent for non-essential cookies or optional features.
We do not process special categories of personal data through file transfers because we do not receive your files. If you choose to contact us voluntarily, we will use your message only to respond and maintain correspondence records as needed.
9. Data retention
We do not retain file content from conversions because we do not collect it. Technical logs and analytics records are kept for limited periods consistent with security monitoring and trend analysis, then removed or anonymised.
Any correspondence you initiate with us may be retained long enough to resolve your inquiry and comply with applicable record-keeping obligations.
10. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to a public informational and tool-delivery website. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
Local processing reduces certain server-side risks because your file contents are not centralised on our systems. You should still protect your device with updates and careful handling of downloaded files.
11. Children's privacy
DConvert is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) through account registration, because no account is required for standard use.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through direct contact, please email hi@dconvert.org so we can take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. International visitors
DConvert is accessible globally. If you access the site from outside the country where our infrastructure is hosted, you understand that limited technical data may be processed in jurisdictions that may differ from your own.
We aim to apply consistent privacy standards regardless of visitor location, subject to applicable law.
13. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information held about you, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Because DConvert does not process your conversion files on our servers, many file-related requests are already satisfied by design: your documents never enter our processing pipeline. For website-related data, email hi@dconvert.org to submit a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, tools, or legal requirements. The «Last updated» date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to highlight them on the site. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires otherwise.
15. Contact us
For privacy-related questions, requests, or complaints, please contact us at hi@dconvert.org.
We will endeavour to respond within a reasonable timeframe. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your region.
